Formatting tips
  • Use lowercase only — UTM values are case-sensitive in GA4.
  • Replace spaces with hyphens (e.g. spring-sale) for readability.
  • Use plus signs (+) for paid keyword terms (e.g. hvac+repair+omaha).
  • Be consistent across campaigns — changing naming conventions breaks historical comparisons.
  • Never use UTM tags on internal links — they reset session attribution in GA4.
